We need doctors, nurses and volunteers to go to the affected areas of Sri Lanka. Volunteers are needed to work for between 10 to 14 days. Let us know if you are a Sri Lankan or Canadian Trained Nurse or Doctor and whether you could go to North and East of Sri Lanka to serve in the disaster areas. Also, let us know how long you can stay in Sri Lanka for the relief efforts.
As you might have read in Sunday's Toronto Star, First team of medical personnel comprising five doctors, two medical students and a nurse lead by Dr. Rajendra left to Sri Lanka on December 30th 2004. They are currently in Sri Lanka actively participating in the relief efforts. This group is not only providing medical assistance, but through the generous contributions from our members and from the public through a Radio Station, has taken funds as well as medical supplies to meet the ongoing requirements of the afflicted. As of January 03rd, 2005, they are now in the most affected Eastern coastal town of Batticaloa. Our institute has committed to send more medical teams to continue this humanitarian service.
If you are interested in joining the next team, please be kind enough to contact:
