  • On behalf of the Medical Institute for Tamils (MIFT) I would like to invite you to join a distinguished list of sponsors for our spring fundraising gala. The gala will be held on Saturday, April 23rd 2005 together with the partnership of Sheraton Parkway North Toronto, Richmond Hill. The evening includes a cocktail reception, silent auction, and formal dinner followed by dancing and a midnight sweet table.

The catastrophe of Boxing Day 2004 has shattered the hopes of individuals who survived the civil war. We at MIFT are using all our collective resources to actively participate in bringing back hope and a bright future to these survivors. Our short-term goal is medical help to the adults and many children orphaned by this calamity.

Our first team of volunteers left for Sri Lanka within days of the tragedy. The second team left subsequently and volunteered in relief efforts for 2 weeks. Through on site assessments these teams have identified the key rehabilitation requirements of the affected communities. We are in the process of developing long term projects to respond to these urgent needs. Details of these projects will be posted on our website. Your generous support will help us achieve these goals.
